Hatters Host Webber in Season-Opening Tilt Friday at Edmunds Center

Stetson men's basketball opens the 2016-17 season when the Hatters host Webber, 8 p.m., Friday at Edmunds Center.
 
The Hatters return four starters and eight letter winners from last season's ASUN Tournament runner up. Stetson was picked to finish fifth in the ASUN preseason coach's poll. Senior forward Brian Pegg and sophomore forward Derick Newton were named to the preseason all-conference team.
 
Fourth-year head coach Corey Williams also welcomes back starters Divine Myles and Grant Lozoya, and key reserves Luke Doyle, Leo Goodman, Kevin Ndahiro and Angel Rivera. B.J. Glasford also returns after missing last season with an injury.
 
Webber (1-2) opened its season last Friday with an 88-66 win at Bryan (Tenn.) College. The Warriors have since dropped a pair of games, losing to Reinhardt (92-88) and Coastal Georgia (86-74).
 
Friday's game will be the fourth all-time meeting between Stetson and Webber. The Hatters own a 3-0 record in the series, including a 103-53 win last season in DeLand.

•Head coach Corey Williams is 1-2 in season openers
•Tonight's game marks the beginning of a season-opening 3-game home stand. Stetson last began a season with three straight at home when the 1982-83 squad played its first seven games in the Edmunds Center
•Stetson is 14-0 when opening the season at Edmunds Center. The first game in Edmunds Center was a 73-58 win over Marshall on Dec. 5, 1974.
•Tonight's game is the first of 26 to be televised on either a major digital platform or carried live on TV. All but Air Force (Mountain West Network), Iowa (ESPNU) and Alabama (SEC+) will be available on ESPN3.
