Hatters Visit Kennesaw State Looking for First ASUN Victory

Stetson men's basketball seeks its first Atlantic Sun Conference victory of the season when the Hatters visit Kennesaw State, 4 p.m., Saturday at the KSU Convocation Center. The game can be seen on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app, and can be heard in Volusia County on WSBB AM 1230 and 1490.

Stetson (7-11 overall, 0-2 ASUN) suffered a 94-68 loss at Lipscomb on Thursday. Derick Newton scored a game-high 23 points but the Hatters couldn't overcome 57 percent shooting by the Bisons.

Kennesaw State (6-12, 0-2) is also looking for its first win after dropping a nail-biting, 78-75, contest to FGCU at home two days ago. The Owls are led by Kendrick Ray, who tops the conference in scoring at 22.4 points per game.

News & Notes
•Senior forward Brian Pegg needs two points to become the 34th Hatter -- and second this season -- to reach 1,000 career points. Divine Myles joined the 1,000-point club in December.
•Sophomore Derick Newton (851) is also on pace to reach 1,000 career points this season
•Sophomore Leo Goodman started the season by missing his first 22 shots from 3-point range. He recovered slightly and followed that by going 9 for his next 36. But over his last three games he's regained the form that saw him shoot 39 percent (39-100) as a freshman, making 8 of 17 shots from the arc while averaging 14.3 points.
•With 105 assists in 18 games, Angel Rivera is on pace to break the program record for assists in a season (179, Terry Johnson, 1986-87).
•Saturday's game is the 23rd meeting between Stetson and Kennesaw State. Each team has won 11 games.
•Stetson has won 4 of the last 5 games in the Convocation Center, and is 6-5 all-time in games played at Kennesaw
