Hatters Blank Oakland for First Win of the Season

DeLAND—Stetson women's tennis picked up its first win of the season with a 7-0 victory over Oakland, Monday at Mandy Stoll tennis Center.
 
The win was the first at Stetson for head coach Travis Sandlant. He was more excited for his players following the match.
 
"These girls deserve this win," he said. "They have worked and battled hard so far. To have a clean sweep and see a positive result will boost the morale we were after."
 
The Hatters opened play by winning two of three doubles matches for a 1-0 lead on the scoreboard. The No. 1 team of Arijana Korac and Maja Salibasic earned a 6-1 win, and the No. 3 tandem of Danielle Peele and Alexe Viaud clinched the point with a 6-2 victory.
 
Sofia Ferding opened singles play with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4. Lucie Renault followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3, and Peele clinched the team victory at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-2 win.
 
Korac earned her fourth singles win of the season with a 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 1. Maja Salibasic and Viaud each won three-set matched at Nos. 2 and 6, respectively. Viaud's win was her first this season.
 
The Hatters return to action when they host College of Charleston on March 4.
