Hatters Begin ASUN Play This Weekend

Stetson faces UNF and JU in Jacksonville

The Stetson beach volleyball team will begin ASUN Conference play this weekend as the Hatters head to Jacksonville for four matches against JU and UNF.  All four matches will be played at Dolphin Beach on the campus of Jacksonville University.  Admission is free.

The Hatters (7-10), ranked ninth nationally in this week's AVCA Beach poll, will face Jacksonville (5-8) at 10 a.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday.  Stetson will also face UNF (5-7) at 4 p.m. Friday and Noon on Saturday.

The Hatters have been stellar in conference play over the past two seasons, compiling a league-best record of 15-1.  Stetson won the ASUN regular season title outright in 2015 and shared the ASUN title with UNF in 2016.

Conference play continues next weekend as the Hatters host Mercer and Coastal Carolina at the Cooper Beach Volleyball Courts.  Stetson will also visit FGCU for a doubleheader on April 12.  Following the regular season, the top five teams will qualify for the ASUN Championship, April 22-23 in DeLand.

Stetson leads the all-time series 14-2 over Jacksonville, while the Ospreys hold a 10-7 advantage in the all-time series over the Hatters.

Coaching Wins
Head coach Kristina Hernandez also earned her 75th career beach coaching victory last weekend against South Carolina.
