Maguire, Lozano Earn ASUN Weekly Honors

Stetson's Sam Maguire and Julia Lozano have been named Atlantic Sun Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week in lacrosse, respectively, the league office announced on Tuesday.
 
Maguire and Lozano led the Hatters to wins last weekend over Central Michigan (20-8) and Detroit Mercy (14-12), helping extend Stetson's winning streak to a record four games.
 
Maguire scored 11 goals in the two wins and has scored 20 during Stetson's winning streak. The senior counted three free-position goals among her scoring total, and also added an assist. Maguire has 32 goals on the season, a total which not only ranks fifth in the ASUN but also represents a program record for goals in a season.
 
Lozano led Stetson's defensive efforts last weekend with seven ground balls, six caused turnovers, and seven draws in two games. The senior recorded a career-high six ground balls against Detroit Mercy while also adding four caused turnovers. She also contributed offensively, scoring three goals in the two wins.
 
The Hatters (4-8 overall, 4-1 ASUN) sit in third place in the conference standings as they prepare to host Kennesaw State, 6 p.m., Saturday, and league co-leader Mercer, Noon, Saturday.
