Hatters Host ASUN Leader Jacksonville on Friday

Stetson closes out the regular-season portion of its 2017 schedule on Friday when the Hatters host Atlantic Sun Conference leader Jacksonville, 6 p.m., at the Athletic Training Center. Admission is free.

The Hatters head into the final game with a 5-11 overall record and a 5-4 mark in ASUN play. Despite the most conference wins in program history they still haven't clinched a post-season berth, but a win Friday can change that. A loss, however, means the Hatters likely will have to wait until Sunday to learn their post-season fate.

The top six teams in the 11-team ASUN make next weekend's tournament, and so far four spots have been clinched. The Hatters are battling it out with Central Michigan (4-5), Kennesaw State (3-5) and Old Dominion (3-5) for one those final two spots. Stetson defeated CMU and KSU, but lost to ODU. Complicated tiebreakers will sort out who makes it and who doesn't if the results don't dictate that on their own this weekend. It is possible all four teams could end up tied with same record.

Stetson has lost its last three games, but two of the losses have been by a combined six goals including one in overtime. Sam Maguire continues to lead the Hatters with 38 goals, while Lindsay Summers leads in points (48) and assists (26).

Jacksonville (11-5, 8-1) leads the ASUN with 254 total goals, including 165 (18.3 per game) in ASUN play. The Dolphins also lead the conference in goals-against average, allowing just 8.50 goals per game.

Fans have several ways to follow Friday's action. The games will be streamed live and live stats will also be available. Fans can also follow the team's official Twitter feed @StetsonLacrosse for in-game updates.
