Hatters, Wildcats to Clash in Monday Matinee

With impressive back-to-back home wins under its belt, Stetson will look to make it three straight when the Hatters host cross-county rival Bethune-Cookman, 4 p.m., Monday at Edmunds Center. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and can be heard locally on WSBB AM 1230 and 1490.

When Volusia County's only two Division I programs meet, they will do so with both playing their best basketball of the year. The Hatters (10-9) swept a pair of ASUN Conference games this weekend, defeating NJIT (80-67) and USC Upstate (87-69). Bethune-Cookman (9-9) has won four straight and is atop the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference standings.

Strong defensive and efficient offensive efforts in both games led the way for the Hatters. Form the start of the second half of Thursday's game with NJIT through the end of Saturday's win over USC Upstate, the Hatters allowed just 35.6 percent shooting to the Highlanders and Spartans. While the defense was crisp, the Stetson offense shot the ball at a .511 clip during the same span, including 20 of 41 (.488) from 3-point range.

Five players scored in double figures for Stetson on Saturday, with B.J. Glasford's game-high 18 points leading the way.

The Wildcats earned a 99-81 win over Florida A&M on Saturday as Shawntrez Davis (22) and Brandon Tabb (20) each scored 20 points.
