Hatters Host Marist on Saturday

Fresh off their first victory in a month, Stetson men's basketball hosts Marist, 1 p.m., Saturday, at Edmunds Center. The game can be seen live on ESPN+.
 
The Hatters (2-8) rallied twice and held on for a 68-64 win over Western Illinois on Wednesday. Abayomi Iyiola had a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Marist (3-4) has won two straight after capturing the championship in the Belfast Classic. The Red Foxes picked up wins over Dartmouth (76-58) and LIU Brooklyn (70-53) in games played in Dublin, Ireland, last weekend.

•Stetson's 116 points against Johnson is the most points scored by the Hatters since a program record 143 points against St. Leo on Nov. 30, 1991
•The Hatters grabbed 66 rebounds against Johnson, the second-highest total in school history. The single-game record is 78 against Hartwick on Dec. 21, 1967
•Sophomore forward Abayomi Iyiola is averaging 19.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocked shots over the last four games. He recorded his fourth double-double of the season on Wednesday against Western Illinois (22-11).
•Stetson overcame a 16-point deficit to win on Wednesday, using a 17-0 run which covered the end of the first half and the start of the second.
 
About the Game
•The Hatters close out a brief two-game home stand when they host Marist on Saturday. Stetson will take an eight-day break from competition after the game as final exams begin next week.
•Stetson and Marist are meeting for the second straight season but just the third time in their histories. Stetson leads the series, 2-0, including a 79-76 win last season in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
•The first meeting between the Hatters and Red Foxes was a 59-57 Stetson win on Dec. 7, 1984 at the Hatters Classic in DeLand
•The Red Foxes are members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Marist and Stetson also play football in the Pioneer Football League.
