Hatters Ranked 11th in AVCA Beach Poll

DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson beach volleyball team is ranked 11th in the nation in this week's AVCA Beach Volleyball coaches poll.

The Hatters went 2-3 against five ranked opponents this past weekend on their west coast trip to California.  Stetson earned 4-1 and 3-2 wins over No. 14 Long Beach State, but fell 3-2 No. 9 Pepperdine, 3-2 to No. 15 South Carolina, and 4-1 to No. 8 Loyola Marymount.  The Hatters slipped just one spot from their No. 10 ranking from a week ago.

It is Stetson's 51st consecutive appearance in the AVCA poll.

The Hatters (8-6) will host one of the most prestigious tournaments in the nation this weekend at the Cooper Beach Courts.  The Stetson Beach Blast will feature four teams in the Top 11 including No. 3 Florida State, No. 4 Hawai'i, No. 6 Southern California, and No. 11 Stetson, as well as UAB.  The tournament will run from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.
