Hatters Announce 2022 Beach Volleyball Schedule

Southern Cal, FSU Set to visit DeLand

DeLand, Fla. -- Thirty-two regular season duals including a visit from defending national champion Southern Cal highlight the 2022 Stetson University beach volleyball schedule, which was released on Friday.

Ninth-year head coach Kristina Hernandez has once again built a high-caliber schedule. In all, the Hatters will play 19 duals against teams ranked in the final 2021 poll.  Five of those duals will feature Top 5 opponents, and seven will come against teams that competed in the 2021 NCAA Championship.

The Hatters will host four tournaments, beginning with the Stetson Spring Fling Feb. 25-26 at the Cooper Beach Courts. The season-opening tournament will feature Mercer, South Carolina, College of Charleston and FGCU.

Stetson will travel to Long Beach, Calif. to face Long Beach State and NCAA third-place finisher LMU on March 1.  The Hatters then head to Fort Worth, Texas to face Georgia State and TCU on March 4.

On March 12-13, Stetson will host the Sun-n-Sand Invitational, where the Hatters will welcome three-time NCAA national champion Southern Cal to the Cooper Beach Courts, along with Florida State, FAU, and Tampa.  The Women of Troy are the defending national champions, while the Seminoles finished fifth in the final AVCA poll. Stetson will square off against both USC and FSU on March 13.

The Hatter homestand continues March 18-19 with North Alabama, FGCU, North Florida and Palm Beach Atlantic visiting DeLand for the Stetson Challenge. The final home weekend (March 26-27) features Florida Atlantic, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State and FIU for the Stetson Bash.

The Hatters will be road warriors for the remainder of the season.  On April 1-2, Stetson will travel to the Carolina Challenge in Columbia, S.C. to face UAB, USC, Jacksonville and UNCW.  On April 8-9, the Hatters visit Tallahassee for the FSU Unconquered Invitational, featuring duals against TCU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, LSU and Florida State.  TCU, LSU and FSU each competed in the NCAA Championship last season.

Stetson will visit ASUN rival UNF for a double dual on April 13. The Hatters will complete the regular season April 16 with duals against FIU and Tulane in Miami, Fla.

All 12 ASUN teams will compete for the conference championship April 22-25 at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala. The winner will receive the league's first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship.

The NCAA Championship will expand from eight to 16 teams in 2022. The tournament is scheduled for May 4-8 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
