Jacksonville, FLA - Stetson women's tennis took four to the UNF Invite for a strong weekend of competition.

Clelia Lombardi,
Cheri Darley and
Zali Morris all headed north to Jacksonville this past weekend to compete at the UNF Invite.Â
"The competition was strong this weekend and it was exactly what we needed. Unfortunately Cheri lost in the finals on Sunday, but overall had a great weekend beating some top players," said Stetson head coach
Travis Sandlant. "It was a great way to end the fall semester."
On Friday,
Cheri Darley had a great day on the court in singles defeating Semra Aksu from Virginia Tech 6-2, 6-2 and later on taking down Lidia Gonzalez from the University of Kentucky 6-4, 6-4.Â
Zali Morris fell to Sarah L'allier from Indiana University 4-6, 0-6 Friday afternoon and also dropped a match to Ellie Myers out of the University of Kentucky 2-6, 1-6.
Pilar Astigarraga Harper lost to Cade Cricchio out of Florida State 1-6, 4-6. Then later on Harper picked up a victory over Jillian Roa from the University of Nebraska 6-3, 6-2. Celia Lombardi fell to Jasmin Makela from UNF 2-6, 4-6.Â
In Friday's doubles action, Darley and Morris fell to a pair from Indiana University Lene Mari Hovda and Elizabeth Dunac 3-6. Darley and Morris went on to defeat a pair of Wildcats from Kentucky 6-4 Elizabeth Stevens and Makayla Mills. Astigarraga Harper and Lombardi defeated a mixed pair of Chase Boyer from Indiana University and Maialen Morante from the University of Kentucky 7-6. Later the Stetson pair of Astigarraga Harper and Lombardi were defeated by the UNF pair of Alisa Lyshko and Jasmin Makela 2-6.Â
Saturday's action saw Morris and Darley in doubles lose to Isabel Adrover Gallego and Lucy Loy from the Uuniversity of Nebraska 3-6. The pair of Astigarragara Harper and Lombardi picked up another win 6-4 over Samantha Tepes and Michaela Hegarty from Virginia Tech.Â
On Sunday, the final day of the UNF Invite, Darley fell in the finals to Ellie Schoppe from Florida State University 5-7, 4-6. Morris picked up a win over Ana Carmen Zamburek out of Nebraska 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. Astigarragara Harper fell to Anslee Long UNF 6-2, 5-7, 1-6. Lombardi also lost to Ireland Simme USF 2-6, 1-6.Â
The UNF Invite concludes the fall season for the women's tennis team. The team competed against strong competition that will help them come spring.
