Edisto Beach, S.C. — The Stetson women's golf team sits in fifth place following Monday's opening round of the Edisto Island Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston at The Plantation Course at Edisto. The Hatters posted a team score of 309 (+25), finishing just three strokes behind Campbell for fourth in a tightly packed leaderboard.
Sophomore Julieta Oviedo paced Stetson with a 4-over 75 to open play, placing her tied for 10th individually. Filippa Jansson followed with a 77 (+6) in her first round since earning ASUN Golfer of the Week honors, while Isaki Sakashita carded a 78 (+7) to round out the Hatters' top three. Elizabeth Eberle finished with an 80 (+9), and Anna Huettl closed with an 84 (+13) to complete the scoring lineup. Competing individually, Ailsa Brannock turned in a 79 (+8).
As a team, Stetson tied for fifth in the field with nine total birdies, led by Jansson's four.
The Hatters will tee off at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday for Round 2, paired with Campbell and Radford.
