JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Stetson women's golf team wrapped up play at the Sea Best Intercollegiate on Tuesday with a third-place finish at San Jose Country Club, turning in a strong showing against a talented field to open the spring season.
Stetson finished the three-round tournament in third out of 11 teams with a team total of +29, posting rounds of +4, +11 and +14. The Hatters finished behind tournament champion Florida (-28) and runner-up Duke (-27), while holding off Richmond (+39) by 10 strokes.
Filippa Jansson led the way for Stetson, finishing tied for 13th at +5 after rounds of +1, +1 and +3. Isaki Sakashita placed tied for 18th at +7, highlighted by an opening-round -1, while Anna Huettl and Julieta Oviedo both closed the event tied for 21st at +10. Ailsa Brannock rounded out the Hatters' team scorers with a tie for 24th at +11, including a final-round +2.
Competing as an individual, Bridget Butler finished tied for 27th at +13 after carding an even-par opening round.
Florida claimed the team title at -28, edging Duke by one stroke. Duke's Rianne Malixi earned individual medalist honors at -16, while Florida's Paula Francisco finished second at -14.
Stetson will continue its spring schedule in the coming weeks as the Hatters look to build on a strong opening performance in Jacksonville.
