Women’s Golf Rides Spring Surge into Standout Summer

DeLAND, Fla. - Fresh off a runner-up finish at the 2025 ASUN Championship, Stetson's best result under Head Coach Teresa Brown and the program's highest conference finish since capturing the league title in 2011, the Hatters aren't slowing down this summer.

With the fall season still a few months away, several members of next year's squad are making headlines on courses across the globe.

Incoming freshman Maggie Potash (Eustis, Fla.) punched her ticket to one of the premier junior events in the country after a stellar performance at the North Florida Section PGA Junior Championship Qualifier, held at Orange Tree Golf Club in Orlando. Potash fired a second-round 64—her career low—to finish 76-64 and claim one of the top spots. She'll now head to Purdue University to compete in the PGA Junior Championship at the Brick Boilermaker Golf Complex later this summer.

Incoming transfer Bridget Butler (Barrington, Ill.) is also making an immediate impact. The Nebraska transfer captured the title at the 92nd Illinois State Women's Amateur Championship, shooting rounds of 69-72-71 at Grove Country Club. With the win, Butler earned a coveted exemption into the 2025 USGA Women's Amateur Championship, set for Aug. 4-10 at Bandon Dunes Resort in Oregon.

Returning standout and last year's ASUN Freshman of the Year, Isaki Sakashita added to the team's international credentials by qualifying for the JLPGA Nichirei Ladies event at Sodegaura Country Club Shinsode Course in Japan. She shot a 3-under to earn a spot in the tournament and finished with rounds of 72-78 against some of the country's top professional competition.

With a blend of emerging freshmen, experienced transfers, and proven returners all making noise this summer, the Hatters are poised to build on last season's success when they return to action this fall.
