Hatters Head North for Navy Fall Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. –  Stetson women's golf returns to competition this weekend as the Hatters travel to Annapolis, Maryland, for the Navy Fall Invitational at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club.

The two-day tournament is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 3-4, and will feature 36 holes on the par-72, 6,084-yard course. Saturday's opening round will begin with tee times at 9 a.m., while Sunday's final round is scheduled for a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

The Navy Fall Invitational marks the third of four tournaments on Stetson's fall schedule and the Hatters' first competition since a fifth-place finish at the Pirate Collegiate Classic in Greenville, North Carolina. Stetson closed that tournament with its best round of the week, firing a 1-under 287 to climb one spot on the final day and finish at 8-over for the tournament.

Junior Isaki Sakashita will once again lead the Hatters from the No. 1 position. The reigning ASUN Golfer of the Year is coming off her first top-10 finish of the season after tying for eighth at the Pirate Collegiate Classic with a 3-under 213. Sakashita bookended the tournament with rounds of 70 and finished her final round with three consecutive birdies at Nos. 14, 15 and 16 on the way to a 2-under 70.

Freshman Maya Burmann will make her collegiate debut in the No. 2 position. Burmann, a native of Dossenheim, Germany, is one of four newcomers to the Hatters this season and will become the sixth different player to appear in Stetson's lineup through the first three tournaments.

Bridget Butler enters the weekend at No. 3 following a consistent start to her junior campaign. Butler has finished inside the top 15 in each of Stetson's first two tournaments, including a fifth-place showing at the season-opening Golfweek Fall Challenge. She followed that performance by tying for 14th at the Pirate Collegiate Classic, where she recorded three consecutive rounds of par or better at 72-72-71. Butler punctuated her final round in Greenville by eagling the par-5 18th to finish the tournament at 1-under.

Junior Anna Huettl will occupy the No. 4 spot and make her third consecutive appearance in the lineup. Huettl finished tied for 31st at the Pirate Collegiate Classic with rounds of 73-75-74 and provided one of the highlights of Stetson's final round, eagling the par-5 ninth before making the turn at 1-under.

Clara Willem rounds out the lineup at No. 5 and will also make her third appearance of the fall. Willem has been part of Stetson's five-player lineup in each event since joining the Hatters this season, beginning with the Golfweek Fall Challenge before competing at the Pirate Collegiate Classic. In Greenville, she improved by four strokes between the first and second rounds with a 5-over 77 and contributed that score to Stetson's team total during the second round.

As a team, Stetson has shown improvement through its opening two tournaments. After beginning the season with a 10th-place finish in the 23-team Golfweek Fall Challenge, the Hatters moved into the top five at the Pirate Collegiate Classic. Stetson's final-round 287 in Greenville was its best team round of the young season and represented a 10-stroke improvement from the second round.

The Hatters entered the year following a 2025-26 campaign that featured four tournament victories, a runner-up finish at the ASUN Championship and a program-record four All-ASUN selections. Sakashita became the program's first ASUN Golfer of the Year, while several returners from that team continue to anchor Stetson's lineup this fall.

Following the Navy Fall Invitational, Stetson will have two weeks away from competition before concluding its fall schedule at the Edisto Island Invitational on Oct. 19-20 in South Carolina.

Saturday's opening round begins at 9 a.m., with the tournament concluding Sunday following a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring will be available throughout both rounds on Scoreboard.
