Sakashita Earns Second ASUN Golfer of the Week Honor of the Fall

DeLAND, Fla. — Stetson junior Isaki Sakashita has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for the second time this fall following another top-five performance at the Edisto Island Invitational.

The honor is the seventh ASUN Golfer of the Week award of Sakashita's career and her second of the 2026-27 season. She previously earned the distinction on Oct. 8 after helping Stetson capture the Navy Fall Invite championship, which marked her sixth career selection.

Sakashita continued her impressive stretch to close the fall season by finishing tied for fourth at 1-under 212 at the Edisto Island Invitational, hosted at The Plantation Course at Edisto. She carded rounds of 72, 69 and 71, finishing the 54-hole event with two rounds at par or better while leading the Hatters to a third-place finish in the 14-team field.

After opening the tournament with a 1-over 72, Sakashita quickly worked her way into contention during Monday's second round. She fired a 2-under 69, moving to 1-under through 36 holes and into a tie for fourth on the individual leaderboard. She was one of only five golfers in the field to finish the opening day under par.

Sakashita maintained her position near the top of the leaderboard in Tuesday's final round, closing with an even-par 71 to finish at 1-under for the tournament. Her three-round total of 212 placed her inside the top five in a field of 80 players and made her Stetson's top finisher for the second consecutive tournament.

Her performance also helped Stetson continue a strong finish to its fall schedule. The Hatters posted rounds of 298, 290 and 290 to finish third at 26-over 878, climbing one spot during the final round and finishing seven shots clear of fourth-place Charleston Southern. It marked Stetson's second consecutive top-three team finish after winning the Navy Fall Invite earlier in October.

The latest award comes amid a particularly strong run for Sakashita. At the Navy Fall Invite, she finished tied for third at 5-over 149 after rounds of 75 and 74 while helping the Hatters erase a 13-shot final-round deficit and defeat host Navy in a playoff for the team title. That performance earned her the first of her two weekly conference honors this season.

Across Stetson's final two tournaments of the fall, Sakashita produced back-to-back top-five finishes, including a T3 at Navy and a T4 at Edisto Island. She was the Hatters' top individual finisher in both events and played her final five competitive rounds of the fall in 1-over par combined, highlighted by the second-round 69 at Edisto Island.

The recognition adds another honor to an already decorated Stetson career for Sakashita. The junior from Nara, Japan is the reigning ASUN Golfer of the Year, a two-time First Team All-ASUN selection and the 2025 ASUN Freshman of the Year. Through her first two seasons with the Hatters, she recorded four individual tournament victories and became Stetson's first NCAA Regional individual qualifier since 2012 when she advanced to the 2026 NCAA Tallahassee Regional.

Sakashita and the Hatters have now completed the fall portion of their 2026-27 schedule. Stetson will return to competition Jan. 25-26 at the Sea Best Intercollegiate in Jacksonville, Florida.
