Stetson Finishes Fifth at Seahawk Intercollegiate

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The Stetson University men's golf team completed its penultimate event of the regular season with a fifth-place finish today at the Seahawk Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Landfall.

The Hatters, which will conclude their regular season at the Gile-Spratley Collegiate in Richmond, Va. on April 6-7, finished at 3-under par – three strokes behind fourth-place Jacksonville in the team standings. Host UNC Wilmington claimed the team championship at 18-under par after turning in a score of 11-under in today's final round. Duke finished in the runner-up spot at 9-under, while VCU was third at 2-under.

Senior Jackson Hicks, a native of Roswell, N.M., posted his second-highest finish of the season, sharing 11th place among the 88-golfer field. He posted scores of 67-71-78 to finish at even par for the tournament. UNC Wilmington's Gray Mitchum and Duke's William Love shared medalist honors at 6-under par.

Defending ASUN individual champion Gaspar Glaudas, a senior from Saint Tulle, France, and fellow French countryman Matthis Lefèvre were among six golfers tied for 16th place at 1-over par. Glaudas posted scores of 67-74-76, while Lefèvfre turned in scores of 74-71-70.

Freshman Thanattasorn Supinraj posted his lowest 54-hole score of the season. He registered rounds of 68-73-74 to finish in a tie for 26th overall at 2-over par 215. The Udon Thani, Thailand native was competing for the Hatters as an individual for the fourth time this season.

Junior Simon Engman tied for 44th overall at 7-over par with scores of 71-74-78, while senior Rasmus Ronnberg bounced back from a difficult second round to post a 1-over par 73 today and finished in a tie for 57th at 10-over.

Upon the conclusion of the regular season, Stetson joins the rest of the men's golf programs in the ASUN Conference at the league's annual championship tournament. Scheduled for April 21-23 at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Ga., the tournament champion earns the league's automatic berth into the NCAA regionals scheduled for May 18-20.
