DeLAND, Fla. — Stetson sophomore Isaki Sakashita has qualified for the 126th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship after earning medalist honors at a United States Golf Association (USGA) qualifier on June 10 at Wilmette Golf Club in Wilmette, Ill.
Sakashita fired a 3-under-par 67 in the one-day, 18-hole qualifier to finish first in a field of 78 competitors. She recorded six birdies during the round and secured one of three qualifying spots available for the championship.
The 126th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship will be held Aug. 4-9 at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tenn.
The qualification adds another accolade to a historic season for Sakashita. Earlier this spring, she became the first Stetson golfer since 2012 to earn ASUN Golfer of the Year honors and was selected to the All-ASUN First Team for the second consecutive season. She also became the first golfer under head coach Teresa Brown to qualify for NCAA Regional competition, competing as an individual at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional.
Sakashita led the Hatters with a 72.71 scoring average during the 2025-26 season, collecting three tournament victories, two runner-up finishes, and eight top-five finishes. She finished second at the ASUN Championship, highlighted by a second-round 66 that helped earn her All-Tournament honors.
The U.S. Women's Amateur Championship is one of the most prestigious events in amateur golf and has served as a launching point for some of the sport's biggest stars. This year's championship field will feature 156 of the top amateur golfers from around the world competing for the Robert Cox Trophy.
