Huettl Qualifies for U.S. Women's Amateur Championship

DeLAND, Fla. – Stetson women's golfer Anna Huettl has earned a spot in the 126th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship after finishing second at a U.S. Women's Amateur qualifier Tuesday at Victory Links Golf Course in Blaine, Minnesota.

Huettl carded a 1-under-par 70 in the 18-hole qualifier, securing one of just two qualifying spots available in a field of 78 competitors. She finished one stroke behind medalist Addison Klonowski (-2) and one stroke ahead of a group of five golfers tied for third at even par.

The rising junior from Mandan, North Dakota, posted a steady round highlighted by birdies on holes No. 6 and No. 14 while playing the par-71, 6,206-yard layout.

Huettl joins teammate Isaki Sakashita, who qualified earlier this month after earning medalist honors with a 3-under 67 at Wilmette Golf Club in Illinois, giving Stetson two representatives in one of amateur golf's most prestigious championships.

The 126th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship will be contested August 4-9 at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee. The championship features a field of 156 of the world's top amateur golfers competing for the Robert Cox Trophy.
