JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Stetson University sophomore Uy Doan was named ASUN Conference Men's Golfer of the Week following his record-setting performance at the Florida Atlantic Invitational at The Bear's Club in Jupiter.
Doan, a native of Hanoi, Vietnam, carded rounds of 66-68-68 to finish the 54-hole event at 14-under par and earned his first collegiate individual title. He led the tournament field in par 5 scoring at 4.08 and his 17 birdies was the second-highest among all golfers.
His 14-under par performance set a program record for score relative to par, surpassing Matt Gauntlett's 13-under at the 2022 Turning Stone Tiger Invitational. Doan's total score matched the previous best three round total set by Dominic Clemons (-11) at the 2024 Tiger Intercollegiate.
Doan (pronounced Dwan) opened the season with a fifth place finish at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate on Sept. 6-8 in South Carolina, shooting a 7-under par 209 with rounds of 68-72-69.
In his six rounds this season, Doan has scored par or better and has five rounds in the 60s. His stroke average over his first two tournaments sits at a team-low 68.5.
Stetson returns to action October 5-6 at the West Bay Collegiate at West Bay Golf Club in Estero, Fla. The Hatters conclude their fall season on Oct. 12-14 at The Bryson Invitational at Doral Resort and Spa in Miami.
