(DeLand, Fla.) ? The Stetson men's tennis team won their seventh straight match and second straight 7-0 victory Wednesday night against Youngstown State at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
The Hatters (11-5) have gone 44-5 since February 20 during this seven-match winning streak.
“Youngstown State played a solid match and I am pleased with the response of the team on this, our 6th match in nine days,” head coach Pierre Pilote said.
Reigning A-Sun Athlete of the Week Hicham Laalej improved to 5-0 in the No. 1 singles spot with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Tom Barth. Laalej improved his overall season record to 14-2, the top mark on the team.
Regulars Filip Kricka and Peter Dzuba joined Trevor Bach, Bret Feldman, and Daniel Stamp with singles wins.
“We got an opportunity to rest some of our players today,” Pilote said. “Now we will prepare for our showdown with ETSU on Saturday.”
Saturday's match features #72 Stetson against #56 East Tennessee State, the only other ranked team in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The match begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
