TULSA, Okla. — Stetson men's tennis junior Alexandre Bergeron represented the Hatters on the national stage this weekend, competing in the pre-qualifying singles draw at the 2026 ITA Men's All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Bergeron, the lone Hatter selected to compete at the event, faced a pair of strong opponents during his trip to Tulsa, battling in two tightly contested straight-set matches.
The Montreal, Canada native opened the tournament against No. 18 pre-qualifying seed Mariano Dedura-Palomero of Texas on Saturday. Bergeron battled throughout both sets before falling 7-5, 6-4.
Dedura-Palomero went on to win his next two matches Sunday to advance out of pre-qualifying and into the tournament's qualifying draw.
Bergeron returned to action in the consolation draw against Nebraska's Henry Lamchinniah. Once again, the Hatter found himself in a closely contested match, but Lamchinniah prevailed by an identical 7-5, 6-4 score.
"Alex played two close matches and came up just short in a tough tournament," Director of Tennis Travis Sandlant said. "I was proud of his consistent effort and never giving up. He will learn from this experience and use it as motivation moving forward."
The ITA Men's All-American Championships bring together some of the nation's top collegiate players and serve as one of the premier events on the fall college tennis calendar.
Bergeron's appearance concludes Stetson's competition in Tulsa. The Hatters return to action Sept. 26-28 at the Battle of Boca in Boca Raton, Florida.
