DeLand, Fla. ? The Stetson men's golf team played a dual match Thursday afternoon against visiting Dayton at Victoria Hills Country Club, grounding the Flyers 287-300. Sophomore Dave McAndrew (Barrington, R.I.) and freshman Gabe Costa (Tequesta, Fla.) each broke par to lead the Hatters to the victory.
Both Costa and McAndrew shot three under-par rounds of 69 on the par-72 VHCC layout to help the Hatters record the 13-stroke victory in their first of three dual matches this season. Freshman Matt Pitts (Orlando, Fla.) shot 74 and junior Tommy Parker (Palm Beach, Fla.) a 75 to round out Stetson's scoring pack.
Also competing for Stetson were freshman Michael Stewart (Edgewater, Fla.) and senior Brenden Kennedy (Newport, N.H.). Stewart tallied a 75 and Kennedy followed right behind with a four over-par 76.
The Hatters host Harvard in their second of three straight dual matches Saturday at Victoria Hills. Stetson also welcomes the Seton Hall Pirates to DeLand for a dual match Wednesday afternoon.
