Migliori Slugs Her Way to A-Sun Player of the Week; Seeds and Times Set For Conference Tournament

DeLand, Fla. ? Junior first baseman Andrea Migliori (Winter Garden, Fla.) was named Atlantic Sun Conference Softball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.  Migliori, who set Stetson single season records for home runs (19) and RBI (61) in last Wednesday's doubleheader split at #28 USF, picked up her second weekly honor of the season.  Additionally, due to USC Upstate's doubleheader sweep at Mercer yesterday afternoon, all six seeds in the upcoming Atlantic Sun conference tournament next weekend at Patricia Wilson Field have been set and matchups/game times announced.

Migliori went five for seven at the plate with three home runs and six RBI in the two games at USF, collecting her first career two-homer game in the nightcap.  The Hatters won that game 8-0 over the Bulls in six innings.  She hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the first and crushed a three-run shot deep over the center field wall in the fifth inning to salt the game away.  In between those two longballs, USF pitcher Kristen Gordon attempted to intentionally walk Migliori but threw one pitch too close to the plate and the Stetson slugger lashed it through the right side of the infield for a single.  She also homered off Gordon in the first game, a blast to left center that was her 17th of the season to break the record she set in 2007.

Migliori is batting .348 on the season with 19 home runs, 61 RBI and is slugging .742, on pace for the second-highest mark in school history.  Her final home run on Wednesday was the 186th hit of her career and moved her into third place in Stetson program history.  The Accounting Information Systems major was also A-Sun Player of the Week for March 3, 2008 after a 10-RBI weekend at the Stetson Invitational.

Stetson locked up the #2 seed in the Atlantic Sun conference tournament when Mercer dropped both ends of its doubleheader to USC Upstate on Sunday.  When the tournament begins at Patricia Wilson Field on Thursday, May 8, the six-game opening day schedule is as follows:

9 a.m. - #1 Lipscomb vs. #6 Gardner-Webb

11 a.m. - #2 Stetson vs. #5 Campbell

1 p.m. - #3 Mercer vs. #4 East Tennessee State

4 p.m. ? LIP/GWU loser vs. STET/CAM loser

6 p.m. ? LIP/GWU winner vs. MER/ETSU loser

8 p.m. ? STET/CAM winner vs. MER/ETSU winner

The Hatters conclude A-Sun regular season play Tuesday in a home doubleheader against first place Florida Gulf Coast at 5 p.m.  Senior Day is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, May 4 when Stetson hosts former league rival Florida Atlantic.  Seniors Nicole Forbes, Blythe Golden, Amy Peters and Lindsay Wightman will be honored for their contributions to the program in a pre-game ceremony.
