Nashville, Tenn. ? The 58th-ranked Stetson men's tennis team improved to 18-4 on the season and 8-1 in the Atlantic Sun with a 7-0 sweep of host Belmont (0-15, 0-8 A-Sun) on Saturday. Four different Hatters won their singles matches in perfect 6-0, 6-0 form while two of the three doubles matches also ended in 8-0 whitewashings.
Sophomore Hicham Laalej (Meknes, Morocco) and junior Serguei Boulanov (Venice, Fla.), along with freshmen Gokay Celik (Istanbul, Turkey) and Christopher Swanteson (Vaxjo, Sweden) all won without dropping a game in their singles matches. Junior Filip Kricka (Umag, Croatia) won by a 6-1, 6-1 score.
Boulanov and Swanteson teamed up to win their #2 doubles match 8-0 while Laalej and senior Joey Jones (Titusville, Fla.) won at the #3 slot by the same final score.
Stetson concludes the regular season Wednesday on the road at A-Sun foe Florida Gulf Coast. The match will begin at 2 p.m.
