Orange Park, Fla. - The Stetson women's golf team is tied for fourth place with Florida Gulf Coast at 17 over par after the first round of the JMU Eagle Landing Invitational. Freshman Alexandria Buelow (Palm City, Fla.) shot two over par 74 and is tied for seventh place to lead the team. Sophomore Lauren Cate (St. Augustine, Fla.) is tied for 10th after a 75.
Senior Danielle Jackson (Seminole, Fla.) carded a 76 at Eagle Landing GC while junior Alex Banham (Birmingham, England) came home in eight over par 80 to record Stetson's other two counting scores. Freshman Anna Hancock (Lakeland, Fla.) shot 86 and senior Lauren Darnell (Gainesville, Ga.), playing as an individual, shot 78. Jackson is tied for 13th and Darnell is tied for 32nd place.
Central Arkansas is the first round leader at 11 over par, four strokes ahead of USF. A-Sun rival Kennesaw State is at 16 over par, one shot clear of the Hatters and Eagles. Illinois (+20), East Carolina (+23), Jacksonville (+24), Kansas State (+25), Elon (+27), tournament host James Madison (+28), Chattanooga (+28), Longwood (+29), Georgetown (+31), Yale (+38), High Point (+41) and Iowa (+42) round out the field.
Haley Koschmann (Illinois) shot three under par 69 to seize a three-stroke lead over East Carolina's Abby Bools and Jacksonville's Jessica Williams heading into tomorrow's second round. Three others are tied at +1 ahead of Buelow, C.J. Bobbitt (Central Arkansas) and Emma de Groot (Chattanooga).
