Hatters Build Commanding Lead After Day One in Bermuda

SOUTHAMPTON, Bermuda — The Stetson women's golf team holds a commanding lead after the opening day of the Bermuda Triangle Collegiate at Port Royal Golf Course.

The Hatters lead the 11-team field at 31-over-par after posting rounds of 307 and 292 on Monday. Stetson opened with the top team score in round one before widening the gap with a tournament-best 292 in round two, building a 17-stroke advantage over the field heading into Tuesday's final round.

Ailsa Brannock leads the way individually for the Hatters and sits atop the leaderboard at 4-over-par after rounds of 73 and 73. Her steady play has been fueled by consistency, as she leads the field with 26 pars through two rounds.

Isaki Sakashita is tied for third at 7-over-par after carding rounds of 78 and 71. Her second-round 71 not only marked the lowest round of the day, but also stands as the lowest round of the tournament so far. Sakashita has recorded 25 pars through 36 holes, ranking among the field leaders.

Filippa Jansson is tied for fifth at 10-over-par following rounds of 79 and 73, totaling 24 pars across the first two rounds.

Competing as an individual, Anna Huettl is tied for eighth at 11-over-par after rounds of 79 and 74. Julieta Oviedo sits tied for 13th at 13-over-par (80-75), while Elizabeth Eberle rounds out the Hatters lineup tied for 15th at 14-over-par (77-79).

As a team, Stetson has excelled in consistency and scoring opportunities, leading the field with 112 pars and 15 birdies. Huettl, Oviedo and Eberle are tied for the third-most birdies in the field with four apiece.

The Hatters will look to close out the tournament when play resumes Tuesday in the final round.
