Ocala, Fla. - The Stetson women's golf team carded a 15 over par 303 team score in the first round of the Morehead State Ocala Spring Invitational on Friday, taking a one-stroke lead over Daytona State and Charleston Southern. Freshman Alexandria Buelow (Palm City, Fla.) shot two over par 74 and is tied for second, one shot off the lead.
Buelow is tied with five other players at +2, one behind tournament leader Olivia Higgins (Charleston Southern). Senior Danielle Jackson (Seminole, Fla.) shot 75 and is just one stroke behind that contingent in a tie for seventh. Freshman Anna Hancock (Lakeland, Fla.) and senior Lauren Darnell (Gainesville, Ga.) each put up 77s to tie for 14th while junior Alex Banham (Birmingham, England) rounded out the team group with an 86. Sophomore Lauren Cate (St. Augustine, Fla.), competing as an individual, shot four over par 76 and is tied for ninth place.
The rest of the field behind the Hatters, Falcons and Buccaneers stands as such: Mercer (+23), host Morehead State (+26), Saint Leo (+28) and South Alabama (+31). The tournament continues tomorrow.
