Orlando, Fla. -- The Stetson men's cross country team finished second out of three teams and the women finished second out of four teams Saturday morning at the UCF Invitational at the UCF Cross Country Course.
Sophomore Joe Beery led the Hatter men in the 8K race and finished in third place overall with a time of 25:51. Also for Stetson, Drew Denson finished fifth with a time of 26:18, Andrew Townes finished 10th with a time of 27:15, Ryan Hodgins finished 17th with a time of 27:55, Kyle Meerdo finished 19th with a time of 30:02, Ryan Newfrock finished 23rd with a time of 32:27, Austyn Finnk finished 24th with a time of 32:29, and James Welch finished 29th with a time of 33:50.
Sophomore Clarissa Consol led the Hatter women in the 5K race and finished in fourth place overall with a time of 19:08. Also for Stetson, Adrienne DeVita finished seventh with a time of 19:48, Amanda Spring finished 12th with a time of 20:19, Rachel Dumas finished 17th with a time of 20:44, Jessica Cosgrove finished 18th with a time of 20:51, Rachel Frankenberger finished 20th with a time of 21:11, Daniella Godenzi finished 22nd with a time of 21:18, Trixi Menge finished 29th with a time of 22:36, Emily Nolan finished 31st with a time of 23:02, Brianna Horn finished 33rd with a time of 23:21, and Susan Scaggs finished 41st with a time of 24:25.
Overall, seven Hatter men and three Hatter women set personal career best times.
The Hatters will compete at the UF/Mountain Dew Invitational next Saturday morning in Gainesville.
