Hatters Seek ASUN Title Monday at FGCU

The mission for Stetson women's soccer on Monday night is pretty simple: win and you're the Atlantic Sun Conference regular season champions. But it won't be quite that easy when the Hatters visit defending ASUN champion FGCU, 6 p.m., Monday in Fort Myers.

Stetson (8-4-2 overall) has never won an ASUN title of any kind in women's soccer. But a victory Monday means more than just a championship. It will also make the Hatters the No. 1 seed in next month's ASUN Tournament, the semifinals and finals of which would be hosted in DeLand on Nov. 4 & 6.

The only undefeated team left in the ASUN at 5-0-0, the Hatters stretched their winning streak to a school-record seven games with a 3-2 overtime win on Saturday against North Florida. Eduarda Pavao knocked in the winning goal less than two minutes into OT as the Hatters twice rallied from a deficit.

Sarah Collins scored twice on Saturday for the Hatters, raising her season goal total to 10 and becoming just the second player in program history to reach double-digits in goals in consecutive seasons.

FGCU, meanwhile, can partially dash Stetson's championship hopes and keep their own title desires alive with a win. The Eagles are 4-0-1 in league play and trail the Hatters by just two points (15-13) in the conference standings. Including Monday, each team has two ASUN matches remaining.

Fans have several ways to follow Monday's action. The match will be streamed live and live stats will also be available. Fans can also follow the team's official Twitter feed @StetsonWSoccer for in-game updates.

Series Info
Stetson and FGCU are meeting for the 11th time on Monday. The Eagles own a 9-1-0 record in the series, with Stetson's only win coming in 2007.
