DELAND, Fla. — Following a standout performance in Stetson's first win and shutout of the season, Stetson women's soccer goalkeeper Clare Boesel has been named the ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Boesel played a key role in the Hatters' 3-0 victory over Eckerd on Saturday, making eight saves to help Stetson secure its first shutout of the season. The eight saves marked the second-highest total of the season for the senior goalkeeper.

Eckerd recorded 13 shots and put eight on frame, but Boesel turned aside every attempt she faced during 80:55 in goal. She came through during several key stretches, including early in the second half when she made saves in the 46th, 47th and 52nd minutes as Stetson protected its three-goal advantage.

The Hatters scored twice in the opening seven minutes of the second half to extend their lead from 1-0 to 3-0, with Boesel helping preserve the advantage as Eckerd continued to generate opportunities. She exited with Stetson leading 3-0, and Mackenzie Caprez played the final 9:05 to complete the shutout.

The award marks Boesel's first ASUN weekly honor of the season. She has started every match for Stetson this season and has recorded 28 saves, including a career-high nine against No. 4 Florida State in the season opener.

Boesel enters the week with a .636 save percentage and 28 total saves across 542 minutes in goal for the Hatters.

The Hatters return to action Thursday, Sept. 24, when they host West Florida at 7 p.m. at the Athletic Training Center in DeLand.
