Vandenberg Earns Fourth Career ASUN Player of the Week

Stetson's Giulia Vandenberg opened up the spring season earning the best finish of any ASUN golfer competing at the Florida Challenge. Her performance captured the ASUN Conference Women's Golfer of the Week award, announced by the league office on Thursday.

The senior from Haarlem, Netherlands notched the first ASUN Women's Golfer of the Week accolade for the 2017 campaign. She collected the fourth weekly accolade of her career after earning two nods in 2016. Vandenberg led the Hatters to a sixth-place finish at the Florida Challenge at the Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Fla. The tournament, hosted by USF, boasted a field that showcased three top-25 ranked teams including: No. 3 Florida State, No. 8 Florida and No. 11 Miami. 

Vandenberg posted scores of 77 and 78, tying for 24th place amongst the 70-player field. As a unit, the Hatters opened up the Florida Challenge carding a 312 in the first round. Stetson concluded action posting a 320 in the second, for an overall score of 632. The Hatters will break for almost a month before returning to the course. Their next tournament will be the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate Feb. 26-28, alongside Jacksonville, Lipscomb and North Florida.
