Dunn and Birker will be one of two teams from Canada and one of 48 teams globally competing for the women's world title.

The two British Columbia natives qualified for the World Championship by finishing second at the U21 Trials on March 21-22 in Toronto, Canada.  They have also recently finished in third place at the Kits Classic and the Jim Clive Cup, and they have been selected to represent Team BC.

In Nanjing, Dunn and Birker will compete in a single elimination qualification tournament on July 11 in an effort to qualify for the main draw, which will take place July 12-16.

Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu province in eastern China and has a prominent place in Chinese history and culture, having been the capital of China on several occasions. With an urban population of over seven million (2011), Nanjing is the second-largest commercial center in the East China region after Shanghai.

As a freshman, Dunn was named the ASUN Pair of the Year in 2017 with partner Kristin Lind.  Birker will be joining the program as a freshman in 2017-18.  The pair will train in California from June 16-26 before traveling to China in July.
