Myrtle Beach, SC – After getting off to a good start at the Bash at the Beach on Monday, the Stetson men's golf team struggled to the finish in the final round at the Surf Golf and Beach Club on Tuesday.
After posting a second-round score of 290 on Monday, the Hatters struggled with cooler weather on Tuesday, slipping to a 306 to finish ninth in the 13-team field.
Jacksonville State edged sixth-ranked Wake Forest by one shot to win the team title. The Gamecocks finished with a 296 on Tuesday after posting consecutive rounds of 277 on Monday. Wake Forest finished with a final round best 288 to get to one-under par, one shot behind JSU.
George Washington's Logan Lowe posted a final round 73 on Tuesday after rounds of 69 and 66 on Monday. That left the door open for Louisville's Simon Zach, playing as an individual, and Incarnate Word's John Hill to move into a three-way tie for medalist honors. Zach finished with a 72 after matching 68s on Monday while Hill finish with a 71 after rounds of 72 and 65 on the first day of the event.

Chris Williard led the Hatters, closing on Tuesday with a one-over par 73 to finish with a three-over par total of 219 to tie for 23
rd.
Senior
Baylor Payne (71-74-75=220) finished one shot behind Williard, tied for 26
th.

The Hatters will continue their preparation for the 2019 ASUN Championship on March 24-25 at the UNA Spring Classic. Stetson will follow that by playing in the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate April 7-9 in Nashville, Tenn., before the ASUN Championship April 21-23 in Braselton, Ga.
