DeLand, Fla. Four outs away from an official game, torrential rains and high winds ended Sunday's college softball game between Stetson and Bethune-Cookman at Patricia Wilson Field.
The Hatters led 8-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning with two outs when the skies opened up and delayed the game. After experiencing a power outage and witnessing a rain-soaked infield, the umpires decided to call the game.
The cancellation spoiled a two home run performance from Andrea Migliori, who at the time tied and then broke the school single-season home run record. Now her season total reverts to 14. Blythe Golden had also homered, Amy Joyce and Lindsay Wightman had tripled, and Amanda Lindsey had tossed four scoreless innings. None of the statistics from the game will count, and the game will not be made up.
Seniors Heather Colding and Sherrel Fountain were honored prior to the game.
Stetson will conclude the regular season at 2 p.m. Monday at Florida Atlantic.
