Men’s Golf Hopes to Continue Hot Run

Old Hickory, Tenn. – The Stetson University men's golf team will open play on Monday in its final scheduled event in advance of the ASUN Championship.

The Hatters will tee off on Monday morning along with 12 other teams at the Hermitage Golf Club's President's Reserve Course at 8 a.m. Stetson will be looking to earn a second consecutive tournament title after winning the Aggie Invitational two weeks ago.

"We have our work cut out for us in this tournament," Hatters' coach Danny Forshey said. "There are at least five teams in the field ranked higher than we are, but we are going to give it all we have."

The Big Blue Intercollegiate is hosted by Tennessee State University and includes teams from Belmont, UT Martin, North Carolina A&T, Tennessee Tech, Wright State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Murray State, Evansville, Alabama A&M, Longwood and John Logan College.

The course, which was designed by the same course architect behind the Chateau Elan Course that hosted the ASUN Championship for several year, will play to a par of 71 over 7,157 yards. The 18th hole is listed as a par five on the scorecard, but will be played as a par four for the tournament.

The event will have a shotgun start at 8 a.m. on Monday to open 36 holes of play. The final 18 holes are set for an 8 a.m. start on Tuesday. There is rain in the forecast for Monday with gusty winds of 15 miles per hour or more. That rain is expected to carry into Tuesday with the potential for thunderstorms.

The Hatters have the same five players who brought home the hardware from their last event with junior Ryan Peters, sophomores Mason Quagliata and Bradley Goldstein and freshmen Ian Ball and Truman Keppy. Stetson will play the first two rounds with players from Alabama A&M and Longwood and will open the tournament on holes 11 through 14.

There will not be live scoring during the event.
