Stetson (11-9, 4-4 ASUN) finished the season fifth in the league standings and will face fourth-seeded North Florida (15-7, 6-2 ASUN) in one of the first-round matches on Friday at 5 pm with the winner advancing to play top-seeded Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday at 5 pm.

Currently ranked 70th in the nation, North Florida has won five of its last six matches, three by 7-0 counts, with its only loss a 7-0 defeat at the hands of 67th-ranked Liberty. The Ospreys have been led by three players, each who have reached double figures in wins, with Jonas Hartenstein topping the list at 16-5, with 14 victories at No. 1. Nilo Duarte has won nine on Court 2 and is 12-7 overall, while Matt Carroll also has 12 wins, including eight at flight 3.

Hartenstein has paired with Jorge Nunez to go 9-6 in doubles at flight 1, while Duarte and Carroll are 9-5 overall, 6-3 at flight 2.

The Hatters had won four in a row before falling in their final match of the season at Liberty, 6-1. In their previous match with North Florida on March 20 at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center, the Ospreys took the match, 4-3, thanks in part to taking the doubles point, winning at 1 and 2.

In singles, Diogo Marques (9-8 at flight 1) easily defeated Hartenstein, 6-0, 6-1, but Duarte and Carroll pulled out wins at 2 and 3. Tim Gennes, who leads Stetson with 12 wins, defeated his opponent on Court 5, while Sami Ozzor, who is 11-1 this year, also earned a victory on Court 6.

That meeting between the two teams was the first in league play for both and Stetson has made a couple of changes to its lineup since.

Stetson (20-2, 8-1 ASUN) shared the ASUN title, its first since 2009, with FGCU and North Florida and tiebreaker scenarios gave the Hatters the second seed and they will face the winner of the North Florida/Kennesaw State match on Saturday at 9 am.

The Hatters, who are on a season-best seven-match winning streak since losing to the top-seeded Eagles, 4-3, on March 25, defeated both the Owls and Ospreys, 5-2 at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center, earlier this year.

Helping Stetson to its historic season included three players winning 19 or more matches opposed to just one defeat and mostly accounted for the Hatters' unbeleivable 63-2 mark at flights 3, 4 and 5 during 2022. Alanna DiFrancesco led the team with a 20-1 record, including a team-best 12-1 mark on Court 4, while Cheri Darley was 14-0 on Court 3 and Noa Cohen 11-1 on Court 5, as each finished 19-1. Nadejda Maslova (No. 1 singles) and Anais Gabriel (No. 2) also reached double figures in wins, wtih Maslova owning a 12-5 at flight 1 and Gabriel was 9-3 at flight 2 and 14-4 overall.

All three major doubles pairs also hit double figures in wins, with Maslova and Darley going 13-4 on Court 2 (14-4 overall), DiFrancesco and Elodie Foster recording an 11-7 record at No. 1 and Gabriel and Cohen owning an 11-1 record at No. 3.
