Men's Golf Wins the USF Invitational!

Marks Forshey's 3rd Victory at Stetson and 22nd of his career

BOOKSVILLE, Fla. - The Stetson University men's golf team celebrated a remarkable victory, securing their first win of the 2023-24 season at the Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville, Florida. In a field featuring 14 teams, Stetson finished 16 under across the 54-hole event.

The Hatters got off to a flying start, posting combined scores of 278 and 277 in the first two rounds. They held a commanding lead at -21 after the opening day. Truman Keppy was instrumental in this dominance, setting a new Stetson men's golf program record with a stunning 64 in the first round. Despite a brief setback with a 76 in the second round, Keppy bounced back in the final round with a 70, ultimately leading the Hatters with a total score of 210.

Dominic Clemons and John Houchin also made their presence felt, finishing T14th and T17th, respectively, with scores of -3 and -2. Clemons recorded a total of 213, including a low of 66 in the second round, while Houchin finished at 214, marked by a 68 in the opening round. Bradley Goldstein and Javier Calles delivered solid performances, with Goldstein finishing T32nd at +2 (218) and Calles at T36th with 219, featuring a low of 69 in the second round.

Mason Quagliata rounded out the Hatters' performance, placing T55th as an individual with a score of 224 (+8).

This victory marked the third 1st place finish for the Hatters under the guidance of head coach Danny Forshey and his 22nd win of his coaching career. Notably, the team has finished in the top 3 in all three tournaments this season.

After their impressive showing at the USF Invitational, Stetson is set to continue their competitive journey at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate, hosted by Charleston Southern. The tournament will take place from October 29th to the 31st at the Daniel Island Club in Charleston, South Carolina, where the Hatters will look to build on their recent success.
