MACON, Ga. - From October 30-31, the Stetson University women's golf team participated in the Mercer Invitational hosted by Mercer, held at the River Forest Golf Club in Forsyth, GA. The tournament, set on a Par 72 course spanning 6040 yards, witnessed 14 competitive teams vying for victory while Stetson's performance culminated in a 12th place finish.
Wendy Hsiao emerged as the leader for the Hatters, securing a T29 position with a final score of +8. Notably, Hsiao showcased her skill by achieving a low score of 70 in the tournament's first round. Filippa Jansson followed closely, finishing at T41 with a total of +13, progressively improving throughout the tournament with scores of 80, 76, and 73, culminating in a total score of 229.
Julieta Oviedo secured a solo 55th position with a +18 and a total score of 234. Lisa Colee, tying at T64 with a +16, and Maddie Heister, also at T66 with a score of +18, rounded out the team's collective effort.
Examining the team's statistics, Stetson showed their proficiency with an average of 3.21 on Par 3s, 4.33 on Par 4s, and 5.32 on Par 5s. The team managed 154 pars and secured 29 birdies. Individual performances also shone, with Oviedo maintaining an even 3.00 average on Par 3s, Hsiao exhibiting an even 4.00 average on Par 4s, and Jansson leading the team with an even 5.00 average on Par 5s. Colee and Jansson both recorded 34 pars, while Hsiao led the team with nine birdies.
The marks the conclusion of the fall schedules as the team will return to action at the Sea Best Intercollegiate scheduled for February 12-13, hosted by Jacksonville at the San Jose Country Club.
