Hatter Tennis takes care of business in combined match day

| Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 DELAND, Fla. -- Both Stetson Tennis teams took a pair of wins as part of a doubleheader against Florida National and Atlantis University Saturday afternoon at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.

Men's Tennis improves to 6-1 on the season with Women's Tennis bounces back to 4-3

"I am proud of the guys for staying focused all day," head men's coach Christophe Noblet said "We have had troubles with focus in our recent past. We put a really big emphasis on that today. We said hey, if you feel you're the superior player or play in the opening, then stay in the match and get the job done. I thought the guys did a good job of that in the morning and the afternoon. Playing back-to-back is never easy and there's a lot of reasons to find excuses and lose a set or match cause your mind is not there. They did a really good job staying focused and disciplined to get the job done."

The Stetson Men's team grabbed the first result of the day. All three doubles courts grabbed wins as the teams played out the entire set as Alexandre Hillhouse and Sami Ozzor took the first win with Marc Saura and Lucas Oliver following suit on court 1 to clench. Bendix Schroeder and Ervin Haris Eminefendic wrapped the action.

Saura continued dominance on the singles court as the Spanish freshman won in straight sets [court 1] for the first time in his Stetson Career. Olivier dropped three game en route to victory, 6-2, 6-1. Eminefendic put the contest to rest with a 6-0, 6-2 over Umberto Particelli. Sammi Ozzor had began play on court 4, but only three games were finished. Court 5 and 6 were no-contest results.

The women's team performed the clinch-play match style. Alanna DiFrancesco and Magda Hedrzak won 6-0 on one. Cheri Darley and Nadejda Maslova finished up the point with 6-1 win.

"Today was a very long day with good matches," Alanna DiFrancesco said "I think every girl performed pretty well today. Doubles was pretty good we almost did not drop any games. I think Tess [Menten] and Lato [Laetitcia Rizk] had very good matches. They both fought hard and took the important points."

Alanna DiFrancesco paced the Hatters, finishing off Sofia Victoria Pera in straight sets, not dropping a single game for the morning session. SU finished off the match's decision competitive aspect with courts 2 and 3 dropping a combined five total games before the required 12 a piece was completed. Magda Hedrzak, Tess Menten and Laetitia Rizk all picked up wins decided by pro sets.

In the evening, Stetson Women's tennis team took a win over Atlantis University 7-0. To start Stetson took the lead with Noa Cohen & Anais Gabriel defeating Atlantis' Geraldine Salinas & Salima Dababi 6-0 on court 1 with Cheri Darley & Nadejda Maslova also winning against Maria Garcia & Ximena Ku 6-2 to clinch the point. Court 2 was left unfinished due to the clinched point with Alanna DiFrancesco & Magdalena Hedrzak in the lead against Lajla Cemalovic & Szilvia Ferenczy 5-2.

SU Women's tennis remained in the lead with Anais Gabriel beating Szilvia Ferenczy 6-1, 6-0 on court 1 and Noa Cohen defeating Zimena Ku 6-0, 6-2 on court 4. Alanna DiFrancesco beat Marcia Garcia 6-2, 6-1 on court 1. In the last three matches, all three of the lady hatters won their pro sets. Magdalena Hedrzak won against Salima Dababi 8-1 on court 5, Laetitia Rizk defeated Ana Montero 8-1 on court 6, and Cheri Darlay brought it home with her win against Lajila Cemalovic 8-1.

Stetson Men's Tennis also took a win over Atlantis University 4-0. Stetson took the doubles with Sami Ozzor & Alexandre Hillhouse defeating Atlantis' Noel Monsalve & Alejandro Flores 6-0 on court 5 and Ervin Haris Eminefendic & Juan Jose Rodriguez Garceran also winning 6-0 against Gabriel V.L. Johnson & Skander Ben Abdallah on court 3. Marc Saura & Lucas Olivier finished the doubles off with a win against Marcelo Rodriguez & Jorge Pastor 6-2.
Stetson Men's tennis remained in the lead with Alexandre Hillhouse beating Jorge Segura 6-3, 6-0 and Bendix Schroeder defeating Alejandro Flores 6-3, 6-2 on court 6. Sami Ozzor won it for the Hatters with his win against Jorge Pastor 6-3, 6-2 on court 4.

"i think the team was very solid, we started very early in the morning and I think the key was focus today. On paper, we're stronger than these teams, but we kept our focus from the first match to the last one. I had a good performance and I am happy with the [results] in singles and doubles. The boys were also focused, hitting the shots, dominating on a beautiful day. We have to keep this going with the same mindset against stronger teams."

The women's team will remain in Volusia County until ASUN Conference play. Stetson faces Bethune-Cookman at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning before coming back to DeLand to tangle with Southeastern in a 4 p.m. match.

Hatter Men's Tennis plays a Friday-Saturday back-to-back with Florida Atlantic and Mercer representing the opponents and facing off as well. The Hatters play at 3 p.m. on Friday with a 1 p.m. Saturday start.
