Hatters Set to Host Mad Hatter Invitational to Close Fall Season

DELAND, Fla. — The Stetson men's tennis team will conclude its fall schedule at home this weekend as the Hatters host the Mad Hatter Invitational, Nov. 6-8, at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center. The three-day event will welcome Kennesaw State, Xavier and Embry-Riddle to DeLand for a weekend of competition.

The tournament will feature two scheduled matchups each day, beginning Friday morning with Kennesaw State taking on Xavier at 9 a.m. Stetson will then open its weekend against Embry-Riddle at 12:30 p.m.

Competition continues Saturday as the Hatters return to the court for a 9 a.m. matchup against Kennesaw State, followed by Xavier facing Embry-Riddle at 12:30 p.m.

The invitational will conclude Sunday morning with a pair of simultaneous matchups beginning at 8:30 a.m. Stetson will face Xavier, while Kennesaw State takes on Embry-Riddle. Each matchup will be played across three courts.

The tournament marks the final stop on a busy fall schedule for the Hatters, who have competed at several events throughout the Southeast, including the ITA All-American Championships, Bedford Cup, ITA Southeast Regional Championships and Samford Invite.

Stetson enters its home tournament following an impressive showing at the Samford Invite in late October, where Christian Kuehne captured both the singles and doubles main draw championships. Kuehne finished the three-day event unbeaten, posting a 4-0 singles record while partnering with Lukas Janousek to win three consecutive doubles matches and secure the doubles title.

The Hatters also enjoyed success earlier in October at the Bedford Cup in Orlando. Mihnea Maftei captured the B Draw singles consolation championship, while Gian Durrer and James Lorenzetti claimed the third doubles draw title. Keoni Puig-McCallan added a semifinal appearance in the top singles draw before teaming with Alexandre Bergeron to reach the Round of 16 in doubles at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships in Atlanta.

With several strong individual and doubles performances already recorded this fall, Stetson will look to carry that momentum into its final competition of the semester before turning its attention toward the spring season.
