Women's Rowing

Stetson Rowing Competed in Full Weekend of Racing

Sarasota, Fla. – Stetson men's and women's rowing had a busy weekend of racing as they both competed in the FIRA Championships and the women also competed in the Sunshine State Invitational.

FIRA Championships:

The Stetson women placed third in the women's 2x with a time of 7:52.74. The men's team would place first in the men's 2 with a time of 7:12.39. Another women's 2 saw Stetson place fourth with a time of 8:39.15.

In the men's 1x Stetson would place first with a time of 7:27.86. In the women's 1x Stetson would finish fourth with a time of 10:14.77.

In the women's JV 4 Stetson would finish third with a time of 8:26.17. In the women's varsity 4 B Stetson would finish first with a time of 7:48.03.

"We continue to make adjustments and learn more about ourselves in the eight. The pair of Vince and Matt had a great race that resulted in another state title for Stetson," said Stetson head coach Jamie Francis.

Sunshine State Invitational:

The Stetson women would come in sixth place in the Varsity 1 8 with a time of 7:00.92. In the second varsity 8 Stetson would finish fifth with a 7:09.83.
Stetson would finish fourth in the varsity 4 with a time of 8:05.41

Quotable:
"Our 1V4 continues to set the tone for the rest of the team. SSI historically is a tough race for Stetson. That four finished ahead of West Virginia and Old Dominion, something that hasn't been done before. Both of the eights also had solid races," said Stetson head coach Jamie Francis.

Up Next:
The men will be featured in the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Championship which will take place April 15th and April 16th at Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, TN. The women will compete next in the Knecht Cup April 15th and April 16th at Cooper River in Cherry Hill, NJ.
