TALLAHASSEEE, Fla. - The Stetson men's golf team competed in the Seminole Intercollegiate at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club, a par 72 that spans 7,505 yards, from March 11-12. In a field of 14 teams, the Hatters tied for sixth place with a final score of 895, 31 over par. The Hatters drew even with Mississippi State but finished ahead of ASUN rival North Alabama, finishing five strokes ahead of the Lions.
Stetson began the first round with a score of 305 before the team found their groove and responded with a 294 in the second round. On day two, the Hatters concluded the tournament with a score of 296, finishing +8 on the day.
Dominic Clemons, who claimed first place in the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate last week, tied for 19th in the Seminole Intercollegiate. The sophomore finished five over par with a final score of 221. He began play with a 74 in round one and a 73 in round two before posting a 74 in the third and final round.
John Houchin finished right behind Clemons with a score of 222, placing him tied for 22. Houchin shot six over, recording a 74 and 76 before finishing even in round three with a 72.
Javier Calles tied for 34th, nine over par with a total of 225. He rebounded from a 79 in the opening round by posting scores of 72 and 74 in the ensuing two rounds.
Matt Gauntlett tallied 78, 79 and 76 to finish with a final of 233, tying him for 64th place while
Truman Keppy rounded out the Hatters squad with a 238 total, tied for 78th.
As a team, Stetson averaged 3.08 on Par 3s, 4.33 on Par 4s and 5.08 on Par 5s while tallying 151 total pars and 36 birdies.
Clemons and Houchin racked up 34 and 33 pars, respectively while Calles and Houchin each sank nine birdies.
