Women's Golf Places 8th in Spring Break Shootout

DADE CITY, Fla. - The Stetson University women's golf team competed in the Spring Break Shootout at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club from Monday, March 18 to Tuesday, March 19. The Hatters placed 8th in a field of 15 teams which included ASUN rivals North Florida and FGCU. Stetson finished 23 strokes over par with a total score of 875. The began play with a pair of 288s in the first two rounds before ending the tournament with a 299 in round three.

Filippa Jansson (T22nd) and Wendy Hsaio (T26th) concluded play within one stroke of each other, +6 and +7, respectively. Jansson posted round scores of 72, 72 and 76 to finish with 219 while the latter began with a 72 before back-to-back 74s lead to a 220 finish.

Lisa Colee and Elizabeth Eberle finished T32nd with +8 for a tally of 221. The former shot a 76 to start but responded with a 72 and 73 over the final two rounds. Eberle first put up a 73 before making par in the second round with a 71. She then concluded the tournament with a 77 in round three.

Rounding out the Hatters squad was Grace Smith, who finished play tied for 44th, 10 over par with a final of 223. She finished even in the opening round before posting a pair of 76s over the next two rounds.

As a team, Stetson averaged 3.09 on Par 3s, 4.25 on Par 4s and 4.97 on Par 5s. They recorded 165 pars, 35 birdies and 1 eagle, courtesy of Colee. Jansson lead the team with 37 pars while Hsaio and Colee each tallied eight birdies.

Stetson will return to action on Monday, March 25 for the start of the Babs Steffens Invitational at Debary Golf and Country Club. It is their last tournament before the start of the ASUN Championship.
