Stetson Finishes Runner-Up in Seahawk Intercollegiate

Sixth Finish Inside the Top-3 This Season

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Stetson University men's golf team continues to maintain a strong season as they finished second place in the Seahawk Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Landfall, hosted by UNCW. It was the team's sixth time placing inside the top-3 this season and the 15th second place of Head Coach Danny Forshey's career. In a very competitive field of 16 teams, including #2-ranked Auburn, the Hatters were led by Dominic Clemons, who came through in the clutch once again with a third place finish, four under par.

Despite a shaky start with a first-round 75, Clemons bounced back with a five-under second round and closed out with a 70. He averaged the best scores of all competitors on Par 4s, averaging 3.9, while recording a tournament second-high 37 pars and an eagle.

Matt Gauntlett also contributed to the team's success, overcoming early struggles to finish strong with a 70 in the final round, landing him tied for 18th place. Gauntlett tied Clemons with 37 pars and recorded six birdies, three of which came in the final round.

Javier Calles followed close behind with a T-20th finish and a total score of 223, seven over par. While he parred 28 times throughout the tournament, Calles and Clemons tallied the most birdies for the Hatters, recording 10 each.

John Houchin tied for 30th with a 225, nine over par, while Bradley Goldstein rounded out the Hatters squad with a 236, tied for 77th. The former recorded 36 pars, third most in the tournament, and 6

As a team, Stetson posted team scores of 304, 286 and 292 for a total tally of 882 as their +18, placed them only behind Auburn. The averaged 3.28 on Par 3s, 4.20 on Par 4s, and 4.85 on Par 5s, the second of the three ranking a tournament best. Stetson registered 161 pars, tied of most among all 16 teams, while recording 41 birdies, third most in the field.

Stetson will look to finish off strong, concluding the regular season in the same state that it began in as they head to The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Missouri for the Tiger Collegiate Invitational from Apr 8 (Mon) to Apr 9 (Tue).
