Owens Cross Roads, Ala. - The Stetson University women's golf team concludes their 2023-24 season with a 5th place finish in the ASUN Championship, which took place at the RTJ at Hampton Cove from Sunday April 14 to Tuesday April 16.
Of the 12 competing teams in the tournament, Stetson trailed only Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, North Florida and Austin Peay State. The Hatters finished play at 16 over par, posting round scores of 300, 282 and 298 for a total of 880. Their second round score of 282 was a tournament low among all teams.
Leading Stetson in their season finale was
Julieta Oviedo, who concluded play in 4th place at one under par. The sophomore tallied back-to-back 70s to begin the Championship before rounding out the event with a 75.
Wendy Hsiao and
Lisa Colee finished T-21st (+6) and T-24th (+7), respectively. Hsiao rebounded from an 80 in the opening round by shooting a 70 and 72. Colee also bounced back from a slow start that saw her post a 78 on Sunday before recording a 72 and 73 over the next two rounds.
Filippa Jansson finished close behind at T-28th, eight over par. She shot a 75 in the first round before shooting a low of 70 on Monday. Jansson concluded the tournament with a 79 as she totaled a 224 over the three rounds.
Elizabeth Eberle rounded out the Hatters' squad with a T-37th finish, 12 over par, as she posted scores of 77, 73, and 78 for a total of 228.
As a team, Stetson recorded the best average on Par 3s and the second best on Par 5s, averaging 2.95 and 4.97, respectively. They tallied 165 pars, 40 birdies and one eagle.
Eberle led all golfers with 41 pars throughout the event while Jansson led the team with 12 birdies. Oviedo was the lone Hatter to make an eagle as she was one of five golfers to achieve the feat.
