HOOVER, AL - In the first tournament of the fall, the Stetson women' golf team finished 7th out of 14 teams. Freshmen Isaki Sakashita earned the Hatters best individual finish as she cracked the top 10 with a 9th place finish.

On Monday, Elizabeth Eberle shot an even par 72 to pace the Hatters. She was followed up by Isaki Sakashita and Ailsa Brannock who would both shoot a 74 on the first day. Filippa Jansson and Grace Smith totaled a 75 and 78. The second round of the invitational was supposed to finish on Monday, but due to darkness the final holes had to be finished on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Sakashita had an outstanding second round as she not only shot the lowest round for the Hatters, but the entire field shooting a five under par 67. Eberle finished the morning with a 73, while Brannock and Smith both shot 78. Jansson finished with an 80 on the second round spanning two days.

The third and final round finished up Tuesday afternoon with Brannock shooting a 76 for the Hatters to finish 34th overall. Sakashita and Jansson would be right behind each with a 77 for an individual finish of 9th and 42nd. Smith finished with an 80 for a 57th place finish and Eberle with an 81 to put her in 29th on the individual leaderboard.

Alabama won the tournament, while Stetson finished 7th as a team in front of Samford, host UAB, Tennessee Tech, former ASUN foe Kennesaw State. Loyola-Chicago, West Georgia and Palm Beach State. Only six strokes seperated the Hatters from a top five finish.

Up next for the Hatters is a match with Jacksonville to be played at the Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra.
