Men's Golf Looks For Movement At Shortened FAU Invitational

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The Stetson University men's golf team will be looking to move up the leaderboard tomorrow and finish its fall season on an upswing in a weather-shortened Florida Atlantic Invitational at Panther National.

Play was suspended due to darkness as the teams were dodging inclement weather throughout the day. The Hatters sit in 13th place among the 17-team field at 7-over par, just three strokes away from a trio of teams that are tied for seventh, including host Florida Atlantic University. Tournament officials decided to conclude the second round beginning at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning, cancel the final round and to shorten the tournament to 36 holes.

Tarleton State leads the field at 16-under par, four strokes ahead of South Florida and 12 in front of North Alabama. Jacksonville is the only other team in the tournament to enter tomorrow's final holes with a team score under par.

Grad transfer Matthis Lefèver leads the Hatters as the team's top individual, finishing 31 total holes at even par. He shot a 1-over par 73 in the first round and is sitting in 27th place. He will start on the 370-yard, par 4 fifth hole tomorrow morning.

Gaspar Glaudas will have four holes remaining and will be looking to improve upon his 35th place standing at 1-over par. Gabriel Lindahl is in 44th place at 3-over, while Rasmus Ronnberg and Simon Engman are tied for 48th at 4-over par.

This week's event marks the conclusion of Stetson's fall schedule, which has included appearances at the Whirlwind Collegiate Invitational (Chandler, Ariz.), the William H. Tucker Invitational (Albuquerque, N.M.), the West Bay Collegiate (Estero, Fla.), and last week's Furman Invitational (Greenville, S.C.).
