ROCKLEDGE, Fla. – Former Stetson golfer John Houchin fired a tournament-low 8-under-par 63 on Tuesday, vaulting six spots up the leaderboard to capture the Championship at the Rock at Rockledge Country Club.

Competing in his first Florida Professional Golf Tour event of the season, Hochin opened the tournament with an even-par 71 on Monday, placing him seventh after the first round. He found his rhythm on Tuesday, carding eight birdies without a bogey to finish at 8-under par, one stroke ahead of David Erdy of Winter Park, Fla. Erdy, a former University of Indiana golfer, finished second, while former University of Michigan standout Yuqi Liu placed third at 6-under par.

The Championship at the Rock is part of the Florida Professional Golf Tour, now in its 16th year with roots that extend back more than six decades. Erdy currently leads the Tour's Player of the Year standings, with Liu sitting in second place.
