HENDERSON, Nev. – Simon Engman shot a six-under 66 in the third round, tying for second place at the Lake Las Vegas Invitational, a three-day, 54-hole event held from February 24 to 26 at Reflection Bay Golf Club in Henderson, Nevada. Stetson finished in fourth place out of 15 teams, including host Arkansas State. The field featured two top-50 programs: Long Beach State (#39), the eventual champion, and TCU (#44), which placed seventh.
Stetson played the par-72, 7,261-yard course with a lineup of Måns Boje, Gaspar Glaudas, Simon Engman, Rasmus Ronnberg, and Jackson Hicks. The Hatters recorded a final score of 857, just one stroke behind third-place West Virginia. After a 292 in the opening round, they shot an impressive -11 (277) in the second round, before posting an even-par score in the third round, securing their third Top-5 finish of the season.
Engman, a sophomore from Gothenburg, Sweden, led the team with a total score of 207 (-9), finishing in a tie for second place. His performance included a six-under 66 in the final round. Engman, who was two over par after the opening round, rebounded with a five-under 67 on day two before securing his top-three finish with a six-under. He recorded three consecutive birdies on the front nine in the third round and made seven birdies in total. In the second round, he birdied every hole he played under par.
Jackson Hicks was Stetson's next highest finisher, tying for 17th with a 213 total. Hicks rebounded from a +2 start, making seven birdies in the second round to post a five-under 67. He closed with scores of 74, 67, and 72.
Måns Boje finished tied for 28th with a 217. He couldn't replicate his strong start, which included a 69 in the first round, shooting 72 and 76 in the final two rounds.
Rasmus Ronnberg and Gaspar Glaudas finished tied for 42nd and tied for 56th, respectively. Ronnberg shot 221 with a low round of 72 on day two, while Glaudas finished with a 224, recording a low of 71, one under par.
Stetson recorded 58 birdies, the second-most in the tournament, while Engman's 15 birdies tied for second-most individually.
The Hatters will return to Volusia County to host the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate at LPGA International (Hills Course) on March 3-4.
